Karen is a graduate of the Laurentian University Social Work Program (Honours) and is trained
in providing individual and group psychotherapy specific to trauma, addictions (substances
and behavioural), mental health, suicide prevention, and concurrent disorders to an adult
client group. With over 30 years experience, she employs several therapy modalities to help
you reach your personal wellness goals.
From her own lived experience and countless interactions with clients, Karen believes that
healing is a “whole person” process that includes identifying and addressing root causes,
incorporating spiritual connections and mindfulness, and embracing each individual’s
strengths and abilities. Karen is honoured to join her clients as they navigate their path to
wellness, celebrating their growth along the way.
Within her practice, she focuses on mood regulation, emotional intelligence, trigger
identification and navigation, and developing transitional pathways. Whether you are
seeking support for anxiety, depression, self-doubt, imposter syndrome, shame, grief and
loss, anger, or a sense of disconnection and isolation, she approaches your journey as a partner
in your growth, providing a space where you can feel seen, heard, accepted and validated.
Outside her professional world, she enjoy spending time with family and friends, gardening,
working with her dog (a gregarious golden doodle pup with sassiness), and exploring thrift
shops and yard sales for treasures for her home. Karen practices mindfulness, meditation,
breathwork and grounding every day and enjoy sharing these experiences and practices
with others. Karen look forward to exploring and creating a connection with new clients.

I believe healing happens when we honour the full spectrum of our being—emotional,
spiritual, and physical. My understanding of this holistic relationship was profoundly
shaped by a personal health crisis, which led me to seek psychotherapy to address the
emotional causes of my illness. That transformative experience inspired my path toward
becoming a psychotherapist—so I could support others navigating similar challenges.
I pursued studies in Existential-Integrative Psychotherapy and obtained a graduate
certificate in psychotherapy from the Toronto Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling
Education (TCPCE). I also hold a Bachelor of Arts in Art and Art History from the
University of Toronto.
I am currently a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the
College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
I offer a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where clients can explore their
concerns and be their authentic selves. I draw from a range of modalities—including
CBT, parts work, art therapy, client-centered, psychodynamic, attachment-based,
somatic, and transpersonal approaches—tailored to meet each individual’s needs. My
work is also informed by years of experience in meditation, mindfulness, and energy
medicine. I am dedicated to helping my clients heal trauma, release shame, and
uncover the emotional causes of illness, so they can reclaim their self-worth, speak with
confidence, strengthen their relationships, and foster spiritual development.

Karen Schiavone brings a compassionate and holistic presence to Healing Connection Psychotherapy. As a Reiki Master, Sound Practitioner, and Medium, Karen offers clients the opportunity to explore complementary wellness experiences that support relaxation, self-awareness, and balance.
Rooted in the belief that healing involves the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—Karen provides non-clinical, trauma-informed wellness services designed to enhance overall well-being. Through the gentle practice of Reiki, she supports clients in accessing deep states of calm and restoring energetic balance. Her sound healing sessions, incorporating bowls, drums, and tuning forks, create immersive vibrational experiences that promote grounding and inner harmony. As a Medium, she offers intuitive insights that can encourage reflection and personal growth.
Karen’s approach is always respectful of professional boundaries and intended to complement, not replace, psychotherapy or medical care. Clients often describe her sessions as restorative and calming, helping them feel more centered and at ease.
At Healing Connection Psychotherapy, Karen’s role is to provide safe, non-invasive, and holistic wellness services that can support nervous system regulation and deepen the client’s overall sense of well-being—while maintaining a clear distinction from the practice of psychotherapy.
